2026 IPA Reorganization

Ratified October 23, 2026, by vote of a convened quorum of the IPA Stewardship Council.
What this means
Julie “Nurse Juhlzie” Monteiro, RN, BSN, was the Association’s President, a fearless advocate, and a pollinator for organizations that are operating today and measurably improving the systems that serve categorically complex, terminally ill, and underserved people. Across the years that produced IPAC2021, IPAC2022 and IPAC2023, the Association came through a pandemic, a run of regulatory change, and sustained disagreement with institutional partners over what integrative curriculum should be, and it did so on a program bench that turned out to be two people, each the other’s only backup across every education and conference role. One of those two was Julie. The other was her administrative counterpart, whose passion was to make her impact measurable so that the record would speak for her. When she died in November 2025, every role she held went vacant at once, and every role he held went unattended with it, because each was the only backup for the other.
The Association has accepted that loss and declined to rebuild the old structure. The reorganization is the answer: no individual holds more than three designated roles, no two people serve as each other’s sole backup, the education series restarts first under an interim letter of authority, and conferences return only when a program team is funded and in place. The old IPA is being put to bed so the new one can step into a mission and not a mess.
Long live Nurse Juhlzie, and may her light, love, and compassion meet everyone who crosses the threshold from healthy, productive pollinator to patient needing care.
The Integrative Providers Association was built around its education series and its IPAC conferences, and the last of those, IPAC2023, was carried by a program bench of two people, each of whom was the other’s only backup across every education and conference role. After IPAC2023 the Association chose not to commit to a 2024 or 2025 conference without a funded, staffed program team behind it, rather than announce one it could not deliver to the standard its members expect. The education series paused for the same reason. In November 2025 the Association lost its President, Julie Monteiro, one of the two people on that bench, and with her every role she held. The reorganization is the Association’s answer: no individual will again hold more than three designated roles, no two people will again serve as each other’s sole backup, and the education series restarts first, under an interim letter of authority, with conferences to follow only when a program team is funded and in place.
